I have an old colt revolver that I need help with. On the left side of the barrel it is stamped COLT DA 45, on the bottom of the grip frame is stamped US ARMY MODEL 1917, the serial # is 1276XX, and inside the frame is stamped 276103 with the letter O under it. I also have both wood and plastic grips, an extra cylinder and pin, and numerous half moon clips. It also has a lanyard loop on the bottom of the grip frame. Any info, history, and/or value would be appreciated.

Thanks
Kent

it is a Colt Model 1917 built in 1920, worth between 500-800 depending on condition

Does it have any military markings on it?

Of course now is about the time for Old Fuff to come along and correct me.

The Old Fuff would consider what's on the butt to be "military markings." :D

You have a U.S, Army model 1917 revolver, made during World War One. The number on the butt (127,xxx) is an army number that was based on the contracts for this particular model. It started at #1. The other number (276,103) is Colt's serial number within the New Service model series that started at #1 in 1898. If you will send me a personal message with the rest of the Army Number I'll see if I can find you some additional information.
