HELP with OLD Loader

I was given this Old loader by a friend. It was previously used by a deceased friend as his press for custom bullets. It is in great working order, but I can't seem to verify what the manufacturer or model is so I can get shell holders or shell holder adapters. Its definiately not a herters "already threw away 25.00 on a herters adapter" :banghead:. Any insight would be appreciated. As you can see from the pictures this is a CAST single stage O style loader. Probably weights in excess of 25 pounds. Threaded adapter in the top works with standard die threads. Thinking it may be a J style lyman, but there are no manufactures stamps or model numbers in the cast. Only a very small 1200 on one side and a 0 on the other. Help greatly appreciated.

I think you nailed it. Doesn't look like much has changed in design. At a 300.00 retail i'm thinking its worth the money to find the shell holders and put this back into use.

I think this version of the CH line was called the Heavyweight champ. Very capable O frame with hardened ram so you dont distort the shell holder lips doing things like bullet swaging. They were expensive years ago and are a good single stage press. You will not wear it out.

I spoke with CH today after uniquedot straightened me out on the model. "Seems odd a company would make such a quality product and not stamp there name anywhere on it" but this unit probably dates back to the 60's.

They still make a nearly exact model "see link from an earlier response" and its sill on the pricey end at 300.00. My ram unfortunately was a custom order or was modified because it does not have the shell holder. For 25 dollars I have a brand new ram on its way that they guarantee will work with no modifications.

When I picked this up I thought I had a boat anchor, now I'm thinking I struck gold.

Here's my C-H 205 press with offset "O" ring and different ram base. It is very sturdy and easily resizes thicker LC military .308 cases. I think you found yourself a gem of a press.

I have the same C-H CHampion I bought in 1969/1970. Indestructible.
You could squeeze a 458 case down to a 22 if you wanted.
It has the slot down the ram for the spent primers. Seems odd that only Lee has copied that in the last 40+ years.

I hadn't even noticed the spent primer channel till I started pulling the RAM off to replace it. Just curious, did your RAM have a Case holder built into it or do you use an adapter. I still can't figure out if this was modified or if there RAM design was changed over the years. There is a set screw on the back of my original RAM that I assume was used to retain the Shell holders, not sure if that is original or modified.

Mine takes a regular shellholder. It has a wire clip spring to hold it in.
Don't have a photo of it here but I am going to the farm this weekend and will try to remember to either take a photo or find one on the computer there.

Looks like the shellholder shellholder? on yours was cut off.

Thanks for the pics. I kinda figured mine was modified. Looks like he cut the shellholder off where the retainer clip was and added a retainer screw to hold the the design of base he was using for Bullet swaging. I got my replacement from CH Tool and Die Saturday, but unfortunately she sent me the standard Universal C Ram which is about 1/2 the diameter and only 1/3rd the length of the Champion. After looking at there catalogs online its going to cost me an additional 50.00 to get the correct RAM "list is 67.00" assuming they give me credit for what I already spent. The girl ment well, but I don't think she knows there product line.
