My uncle has come across some old shotshells that belonged to his father in law. Originally, he was going to take them to the police to be destroyed (I'm the only gun-savvy person in the family) but he asked me to look at them first. It looks like he has about 23 paper hulled shells. Most of them are Peters brand target and field loads along with a Winchester and a Remington UMC. All but two are in great condition. He still wants to get rid of them, but I've convinced him that it'd be better if they go to a collector than to an incinerator. Can anyone give me a rough idea of what these might be worth? Details below.

12 Peters Target Shells 12ga. ~2 3/4" 1-1/8oz. #6 Shot
9 Peters High-Gun Shells 12ga. ~2 3/4" 1-1/8oz. #7 Shot
1 Winchester 12ga. ~2 3/4" ?? Shot Weight and Size
1 Remington UMC 12ga. ~2 3/4 1-1/4oz. #7 Shot

Pictures to come.

To my mind, they aren't worth anything to a collector, since I've got lots of what you listed in my shop. I would just take them out and shoot them, and then enjoy the aroma of those old fired paper hulls.

Hope this helps.

I might pay 50 cents each for them at a gun show and go shoot them. People generally collect the boxes, full or empty, but I can see from a quick internet search that somebody thinks old shells are valuable.

www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=141868447

"Peters HIGH GUN 12 Ga shotgun shell - loaded in good condition. Shipping $4.00 to lower 48."

Started at $15.00

No bids.

For one shell in horrible condition?
