Just got back from Gander Mountain today and bought a couple boxes of Peters Blue 12ga shells that Gander Mtn. is carrying again. 1 1/8oz heavy target load only, they also had 20ga Peters shells. Both were $4.19 a box. I will shoot them tomorrow at the gun club and report back how they were.

Gander also had Federal promo Target loads for $2.90 a box or $29.00 a flat, also 1 1/8oz heavy target loads. I bought a flat just to have, I can't hardly load the shells for what they cost.

Both of these shells were Target shells, so I believe they have hard shot in them. I will take 1 of each apart and check them.

EghtySx,
I haven't seen them around for years, so I wanted to try them out. Reading the box they have a power piston Remington wad with hard antimony shot and 209 target primer.

Dave, looks like a nice hull, I'll also see how it reloads. Hopefully it will be a nice reloadable hull, for a little over $4 bucks it would be worth it.

They ought to pattern nicely then, the Power Piston is a good wad and hard shot tops it off.

I shot a round of trap with them today, 17yd I broke a 24. All good crunches of the target, but a real shouilder thumper for heavy target loads.

I'll see how they reload now, but I don't see buying many more unles I can find some light target loads.

Lots of fond memories of the Peters Brand in Paper and Plastic.

Getting all sentimental and remembering old memories...let us know how they reload...:D

Besides...one that "stacks" loads needs a "Blue Load". Especially if that Blue Load is a reload. ;)

I may have to swing past Gunz R Us and pick up some, and not just for the memories.

The recent rise in price for ammo has to do with antimony somewhat, along with increased gas prices. Antimony makes shot harder, thus less likely to deform. As folks seek to keep their costs low, hard shot will tend to fade out, especially in promo and generic loads.

Even PGC switched from the excellent West Coast shot(6% antimony) to Star Shot of unknown but softer alloy. They still carry WC in 8.5 shot for an extra $3 a bag. So be it, the stuff works for me in those 7/8 oz loads.

Anyway, the Peters ammo may be a good choice for general target use. Will advise...
