Is it ok to use small magnum primers with 9mm and 40S&W, or do I need to use standard?

I have some 190 grain lead semi wad cutters for 45acp. What is a good load for these bullets using either red dot or unique? i'm looking for around 800-830fps. or just some nice target loads. Thank you

Your load data will very likely call for standard primers.

If you switch to Magnum, you will need to back off the MAX load slightly.

Neither Red-Dot or Unique require Magnum primers.

I'd try 5.0 Red-Dot, or 6.5 Unique for a middle-of-the-road load.

And while you are trying rcmodel's load data (which is correct as usual). You need to purchase a manual...You wouldn't believe how much information is in one of those. $20.00 will get you some fine reading and load data. Did I say Lyman's 49th Edition?;)

Thank you RC. I do have a manual speer edition number 13, it just doesnt have any load data for 190 grainers.

Back up a sec.....

I do have a manual Speer edition number 13....

Mr Walker -
You should listen to Bushmaster. We all have a Speer manuals. Unfortunately, as you have discovered, it only covers Speer bullets. A Speer manual is fantastic when you're using Speer bullets; I wouldn't be without one.

However, you have obviously reached the point in your reloading career where you are expanding your horizons. Congratulations. That means it's also time to expand your library. You simply need a manual that covers more load variations in greater detail.

You asked for help. Believe me friend, we're sincerely trying to help you.

Rf I do appreciate the help you guys give here. This forum has been great the whole time I have been a member with nothing but good people and great advice.

I will get lymans 49th edition. I can usually find load data on the powder manufacturers web site, or handloads.com but this bullet weight was a tough one to find.
