This particular gun has a P38 slide/barrel and a P1 alloy frame.

The forward lip of the feeding ramp build into the frame has a vertical gap of about 3/16" to the lower edge of the barrel. Add to this the 1/8" of the barrel which is not ramped itself and we have a Major gap here.

When chambering the first round (only ball will feed) the nose of the round hits the gap but does feed. Subsequent rounds jam.

Are there many such P38/P1 hybrids out there and do they all have this much of a gap? Do the original P38s and later P1s have the same gap?

Was Walther involved with these hybrid guns or are they the result of various firearms traders mixing inventories of parts?

Thank you.
