i am finally in the market to get my first semi auto, i have been using the ranges rented guns for the past 18 months but now want my own. I have settled on 9mm because of ammo costs, and so far i am stuck between the Glock 17, Beretta 92FS, and the Sig 226. I will mainly be using the gun at the range, what do you guys think......

Thanks

All three are outstanding handguns, and perfect for range and home defense use. They all have reputations for reliability.

You can't really go wrong with any of those guns. It's largely a matter of preference in regards to hand fit. The Glock will be the cheapest, and it also holds two rounds more than either the Beretta or the SIG. (I am assuming that you can legally get un-neutered magazines up there in the Great White North.) The SIG will be the most accurate by a smidgen. The Beretta will have the lowest perceived recoil thanks to its weight.

My personal pick would be the P226, but I've owned all three and would trust my life to either of them. As a range gun, any of those three will give you decades of reliable service.

Which one do you shoot the best and is the most accurate for you? Each of these three guns fit very differently in a shooter's hands. Do you like simplicity as in the Glock, or a machined marvel like the Sig?

I own all three and prefer the Sig overall.

But that's just my opinion.

From Your List:

SIG-Sauer P226*

Beretta 92fs

Glock 17

* FootNote- Also worth mentioning is the SIG-Sauer P228;
as it is very close to being as accurate as its brethen, the P226.
I for one, actually shoot the P228 better than the P226!:D :uhoh:
