at the crony breakfast this morning i shot off my big mouth. a fellow eating with us said he had a S&W 9mm stainless for sale in a fitted case. i asked "how much" and he said $400.00. he didn't know the model #. i followed him home and it was a 669 in case w/2 mags, a box of shells. cleaning kit, silicone cloth and a plastic bottle of break free. doesn't have a mark on it, ramp not scoured, ambi safety, black plastic grips, rear sight black with white outline and front with red dot. settled on $350.00. did i get hosed?

No sir, I don't think you got hosed at all. In my neck
of the woods, the S&W model 669 is one you don't
see very often. As a matter of fact, the last one I
saw was in the holster of a plainclothes officer on
his way to county court. With the weapon being in
the condition you describe, $350 was a darn good
price. And apparently with it having a plastic bottle
of "Break Free CLP" with it; it must have been well
taken care of?

The 669 was introduced in 1985 as a smaller version
of the model 659. Discontinued in 1988, the book
says $400 in EXC; and $485 NIB.

thanks much for the info. feel a lot better. on closer insp. the gun is absolutely spotless. the full 50rd. box of win. 115 solids is so old that the cases are beginning to get a patina. i don't believe it's been fired all that many times. never owned a S&W but always wanted one. thanks again:)
