Henry 1860 in 44-40……OOPS!

A friend and co-worker picked up a beautiful Henry 1860 in 44-40 last week, he is very much a latest and greatest semi-auto type of guy so I was really surprised and excited that he picked it up. He asked if I could reload some rounds for him until he could get set up to do his own reloading. I told him I would and that all I would need from him is a set of dies and some brass. I got to tell ya, brass for one of these things seems to be on a whole new level of unobtainable, my preferred source is getting on the backorder list on Starline’s site but that isn’t happening, I tried Titan, Precision Reloading, Powder Valley, LG Outdoors etc…etc…and etc. Long story short, the poor guy should have bought it in .45Colt, I can’t even find factory 44-40 ammo just to try the thing out.

Yeah, it was pretty much done by WWII, probably more popular now (because it’s old, designed in 1873) than it was in the 1940’s but we also just have a lot more people here now too.

In any case (no pun intended) these guys have some.

Your not looking very hard. Brass is easy to find. One just has to be willing to pay for it.
