I am looking for loads using Herco and 125gr bullet for a 357 mag. Was told to use data for Unique but I cannot confirm that. Thanks for the help.

A little off topic. But that Blue Dot load is hotter than a 2 dollar pistol.
No wonder Alliant says not to use Blue Dot in 357.
Pretty close to the same weights of Blue Dot the Lyman 48th says to use with a 240gr. JSP in .44Mag so, yeah, I'd say it's a might warm.

I've used Herco extensively in the past for Unique type loads in .357, .41 Mag, 44 Spl & Mag, and .45 Colt. For moderate, mid-level loads, my notes show it equally accurate and a bit easier to meter consistently.

For 6.0 to 8.5 gr loads in the above calibers, Herco requires a load that's ~5% heavier...ie. for an 8.0 gr. load of Unique, I would load ~8.4 gr of Herco.

These are approximations and you should do your own analysis...older Lyman loading manuals can help you. In my experience, using Unique data for Herco loads would be safe in handgun cartridges.

Regards, Rod

I like Herco, Unique and Universal in a wide range of chamberings.
I'm afraid, or encouraged, that in our present day oppression we will find new uses for powders once relegated to other uses.
I'm more and more convinced that the component shortages are being artificially manipulated. Lets go, Brandon!

I really like Herco with the 125 grain bullet in my 4" Security Six. I get better velocity with it than 2400, because of the short barrel.
I find it very accurate. My load runs about 1300 FPS.
