I've been hunting all of my life, I'll be 36 years old next month, and I've never seen anything like this before. I bought a cheap electronic call the other day. I have a good electronic call that I use for hunting but I saw a cheap one with a ton of calls on it and I figured it be fun to play around with when I'm sitting out on my deck at night.

Here's my question for you guys: Why on god's green earth would it have a deer mouse call on it and a Vole mouse call on it? The only thing I can think of is to call in birds? Maybe call in snakes... :what: Bet my wife would love that!

Small predators might be interested...got any rabid squirrels that need thinned out?

Haha! Oddly enough a squirrel just knocked out power out my house. My neighbor and I stopped to talk to the lineman who was working on the line and he said that all the found was fur...

Mouse squeakers are used to bring coyotes close.

Thanks Buck! I've hunted coyotes plenty of times and never tried a mouse squeaker, I've always used wounded rabbit calls. Maybe I'll give it a try this year.

Last fall while deer hunting,I watched a fox "mousing" in a hay field. He would cock his head and listen and then pounce.

I've used the little hand-held mouse squeaker to communicate with coyote hunting partners, though an electronic one would probably work nicely for bringing them in.

The hand-held ones also can be effective for stopping a mover briefly, so you can make a better shot.

The vole squeak is one of the best coaxing calls for coyotes ever used. Both the calls you mentioned are used for calling coyotes.
