Last couple of times reloading 38/357 range brass I have had to cull out the Herter for both calibers due to difficulty priming. The ones that would prime took way too much pressure and most would just would not fit.

Using a RCBS hand primer and CCI primers.

Also noticed that Hornady 357 brass was about .020" shorter than other headstamps.

Anyone else had similar issues with these two headstamps?

Indeed. I was just priming some .38 cases using a RCBS hand primer and the Herters brass has very tight primer pockets. I only have a handful of Herters brass so am just culling them out and tossing.

Same here. After fighting 5-6 of them I just started tossing them in the scrap bucket.

I assume the short Hornady cases will be OK since they are the same OAL. I did have to crank down the Lee crimping die another to get the same roll crimp.

Guess you get what you pay for with range brass.
