He's lucky he is still alive and intact.

Firearms safety cannot be stressed enough. I think all of us here are practitioners and advocates of that.
Here is a dramatic example of things gone terribly wrong.
Sighting in your expensive new deer rifle:

1. Shiny new, high-powered deer rifle..............$1,200.00

2. Quality, high-powered scope........................$550.00

3. Bore sighting device.....................................$140.00

4. Hospital Visit......................$4,893.00

5. Forgetting to remove the bore-sighting device prior to actually shooting the damned thing?

Priceless

Seen it years ago.
The banana-peeled barrel is crazy.
MythBusters tried to do that and couldn't get the barrel to split so they determined that it wasn't possible and called it a myth. Here's proof.

Wasn't picture number four clearly shown to be from a completely different source and unrelated to the actual incident?

I wondered about that because it looked like the action held together, and there's very little damage to the surroundings. And picture # 4 is a different format from the others.

Who added that picture #4? Who's trying to hype us?

JohnL2 (or others) do you have a source for that information?

I'd like to track this thing down and challenge the originator on the veracity of that pic.

Makes me mad if it was a fake addition.

Especially since I'd bet that, overall, shooting is safer than bowling or horseback riding or taking a bath.

It does look like something from a Warner Brothers Buggs Bunny / Elmer Fudd cartoon.

$4,893 wouldn't even begin to put the dude shown in that picture back together again.

Still, the gun picture is obviously real. A good lesson for us all.

The pictures without the gore have been around a while, but without the gore.

As pointed out, the action on the rifle is intact so this one doesn't need to be kept open since it starts out with a doctored "punch line" from out there on the net.
