I just bought a Hesse converted Saiga AK. I've heard some nightmarish things about Hesse receivers and builds but I'm hoping since they started with a functional Saiga, and all they did was move the fire control group, add a pistol grip and a bullet guide, that it'll be OK. (Haven't had it to the range yet).

So, was wondering if anyone has a Hesse conversion like mine or have heard anything about the conversions. I know the full builds had problems but again, hoping I'm OK with what I've got.

It isn't hard to convert a Saiga. Just as long as the bullet guide is installed correctly you should be fine. The bullet guides for a .223 Saigas are a little more tricky. I have converted 8 Saigas myself. Please post photos.

Close ups of inside the receiver are what we'll need to give you an honest opinion.

That's what I meant by "internals."

The way I figure it, if they replaced all the standard 922r parts per standard conversion process and didn't mangle the rifle while doing it, he got a pretty good deal; as they say, you really gotta try to screw up an AK, and a converted Saiga for ~$100 less than a WASR is a screamin' deal by any standards.

If (as his OP kinda makes it sound like) they took a Saiga, moved the original FCG up, screwed on an $8 pistol grip and hammered in something they call a bullet guide, he may well have overpaid $50+ for a wrecked, non-922r-compliant monument to Hesse fail.

Two of my friends bought Hesse Saigas back in the "days"($325 OTD).
They both are done well and function 100%. Wish I bought a few
of them,then again,I was buying up $229 SAR's.
