I hope some of you folks can help me with this question.

I e-mailed Red Star Arms to ask whether they made a trigger group to fit the Saiga .308. They replied that they didn't in its standard configuration, but that if it was "converted", they could supply a trigger group. I queried the term "conversion", and they answered that it was possible to move the trigger forward and install a traditional-style AK pistol grip behind it.

I've not heard of this conversion. The Saiga .308 has the trigger moved back into the place normally occupied by the pistol grip:

The traditional AK-47 trigger/pistol grip arrangement looks like this:

Does anyone know how such a conversion would be managed? Has anyone done it? Can anyone name a company or gunsmith that has done or can do such a conversion?

Preacherman,

I'm about to do pretty much the same conversion, except that I'll add a Romanian thumbhole stock, much like the ones found on the Romak III or WSAR, instead of a pistol grip. Pretty much the same conversion, except a bit easier.

If I'm mistaken the RSA part that I will have to order will be for the VEPR .308. Hopefully I can find the buttstock at this weekends gunshow.

I found this site to be kinda neat and informative for the conversion as well.

from what I understand...the Sagia has a modified trigger to an AK reciever. The trigger is made longer to accomodate a "sports" style stock so it doesn't appear so aggressive.
