I'm new to the forum and to Firearms ownership. I have lurked for a week or so to get a feel for the place. I have to say that it's refreshing to see that almost everyone who posts takes THR!

Due to a sudden lifestyle change, I decided it was time, and I had the time, to get back out to the range.(Not to mention the djing! Whoa! It looks as if I'll need a part time job! There goes those found daylight hours!)

I look forward to learning and sharing all the fun and responsibility of firearms ownership here on The High Road.

I'll probably spend most of my time in Rifle Country since I don't have any pistols, although I'd like to change that as well.

Welcome, Bebe.

We're a crazy bunch with a lofty name (THR) that is often deserved, but sometimes not. (When I read threads with more ad hominem than not, I question that.)

Still, much to learn here. :)

Don't let the fact that you own no pistols keep you out of the pistols forum. We can arrange for you to want pistols. ;)

Likewise for shotguns, which brought me here (then I found pistols, then I found rifles).

Tread lightly in legal & political for a while. There be dragons there.

Welcome, don't be shy and check out the search feature on this site for some good past threads.

Welcome aboard, Friend. Can't belive no one's yet said "new guy" buys the drinks!

Seriously, welcome and consider a Ruger .22 auto for your first handgun.

Stay save.

Yeah, we clearly dropped the ball there. :uhoh:

I'll take a Blue Moon (Belgian Wheat Ale). De licious. (Unlike the Busch I'm drinking now, but the latter is cheap ($4 for a six of pints) for a guy on a budget for another month while making renovations to the new business space, where he's heading back for yet more work on a Saturday night after dinner...can you hear the violins playing in the background?)

...do not waste any time picking up that first pistol
I'd recommend a Kahr K9.

Welcome, Bebe. This is a fantastic forum. Even though we get into some vociferous debates over on the Legal forum, the folks who frequent these forums are top knotch folks. I hope you will find your visits enjoyable.

I know its been said already, but welcome to (IMHO) one of the best guns forums on the 'net. My advice is that you explore the THR library for some great posts. May you learn much and help educate the rest of us.

Thanks for the welcome!

I spent my first day at the range in 20 years over the weekend. I, of course, had a BLAST!!!!!

Ba-Dump :)

I only put about 300 rounds down range, and I can't say i shot real well, But I sure had fun!The guy next to me didn't help my self esteem, he was shooting ragged 3/4 - 1 inch holes at 100 yds with an M40.

I really need to relearn the fundementals, since almost all of my prior markmanship training was courtesy of Uncle Sam. it seems everyone shoots from a bench, there was one fellow firing prone, but even he had a bipod. I guess that range time and lots of ammo will tighten up my groups, hanging out here is sure to help too.

Since my initial post, my firearms collection has doubled. ( from 2 to 4) I'm sure that will be the last time I'll be able to make that statement! :p

No pistols yet, and it will probably be awhile. I haven't turned in the paperwork yet, and I'm sure they'll be in no hurry to process it. I'm thinking of applying for 3 or 4 of them at once, but they're only good for 90 days. Which presents another dilemma in itself. I'd REALLY like a Walther PPK, and I'm gonna NEED a 1911, and it doesn't look like they come cheap!

I better get moving, because the rifle range is a haul, and there are way more places to shoot pistols around.;)
