Hi-Point - Legal in Cook County?

Does anyone know if the Hi-Point Carbine is legal in Cook County, IL? Can't seem to get a straight answer from the Sheriff's office or State Police - they probably don't know either. Thanks in advance.

Whether it is legal or not depends on your town. Cook County narrowly avoided an "assault" weapons ban, so you are OK there, but individual town and city home rules and laws still apply.

Off the top of my head, Chicago, Schaumberg, and Wilmette, all have some type of handgun or "assault" weapons ban. You can look around the ISRA’s site for more info.

As long as you don't live within the limits of the city of chicago it is fine for you to own.
