Hi Power Buffer

Just tried to put a buffer (buffer Tech) in my Argentine FM Hi Power. I could not lock the side back during reassembly. Am I doing someting wrong? Do I just force it back? I seem to be about 1/16 to far forward to get the safety up into slide notch. Any thoughts?

Scrap the buffer?

Seriously, I've seen these things for years advertised for all kinds of guns, but the more I circulate and discuss, all I have ever heard about these things is that they will eventually disintegrate into little nylon jamming fragments.
