This is probably a beginners question, and I'm certainly not a beginner, but I'll ask it anyway. I have a FM (yes FM not FN) Hi Power 9mm that I carry as a duty piece. I know that the problem is really not with the gun, nor is it a function problem. Just really annoying. I have the original mag and 2 MegGar mags. The problem is, when they are fully loaded (13rds) and inserted in the gun, the cartridges rattle in the mag. Is there anything I can do to help with this (problem). I've tried everything I know to do to no avail. I'm going crazy I CAN'T STAND RATTLES!!!!!???

That is a common issue with double - stack magazines, due to the staggering in the confines of the magazine body. One round will invariably be loose, while the ones above and below are jammed against the ones beside. Should not cause any problems, just annoying.

My Walther P99 AS does it when I load the magazine with a even number of cartridges. Funny thing.

Take the rds out, load them carefully with each rd as far back as you can get it.

Smack the rear of the mag firmly against your palm every three to four rds. This should make it go away. The base of each rd creates friction the further back they are. With some mags you have to down load it.

It’s the geometry of the mag. There’s enough space for them to move, but the rds can’t pass by each other.

Those are what I’ve done anyway. Newer springs seem to help too.

The only time that annoying rattling stopped was when I carried some 147 grain Federals. I'm actually used to it right now - sort of like the smell of Ballistol... I love it!

I have a few double stacks that do that. p11 does it, a sp01 I carry often that does and a couple others. I load carefully and smack back of mag as I go into my hand. once loaded if still does it i push down on top round and then smack over and over until it stops. sp01 is the only one I have I cant get to stop. very annoying.

I am just excited that you get to carry a Hi Power on duty!

One of the benefits of working private security. We can carry "almost" anything we want, but we have to qualify with it.

This is my Argentine FM M94 Hi Power and my qualification target.
