I just found a KBI/FEG Hi-Power pattern 9mm in pretty fair condition at a local Pawn Shop. The price was phenominal for this area. (less than $250.00) So I put some money on it and will go pick it up after work.
Any experience / advice on what to check for when I take it down would be appreciated.

Go Back to the store and buy it! Wonderful guns. Mine has a really, really great trigger and will digest about anything other than the bulk WWB ammo. Accurate, too. :D

I did put some money down on it. I need to pick it up after I leave work though, due to the need to keep firearms off the premises. I work at a Mental Health Facility, a board and lodge for Mentally Ill Chemicaly Dependant. Having a gun at work is too great a liability, so I just don't bring one.

If I were to purchase a clone Browning Hi-Power it would be the FEG. From the ones I observed and fired in the past I was impressed. The price you paid was in the "ball park". They used to sell new for about the same price a few years back. Make sure you use quality ammo and magazines (i.e Browning or Mec-Gar) and you'll be a very happy and proud owner. Welcome to the Hi-Power club.

The FEG Hi-Power clone is a nice one; just be sure you are actually getting a Hi-Power clone as KBI has marketed a number of FEG clone guns under the name "Hi-Power." They also sell a DA 9mm S&W59 knock-off as a Hi-Power and it has nothing in common with the Hi-Power. I forget what the KBI model number is.

However, you'll be able to tell the difference just by looking if you know what a genuine GP35 looks like. The other "Hi-Powers" look nothing like the genuine deal.

The model number for the FEG is, PJK-9HP.

My BHP, Arcus and FEG PJK-9HP on the bottom.

Unfortunately the lug broke off of the barrel on the FEG.

IMO the Arcus is a better pistol, but not as nice looking as the FEG.

Well I finished paying for the FEG PJK-9HP, it should make a fine companion to the FM M95 I already own. Will post pics of the pair in a related thread.
One concern I have is I noticed the drift pin for the trigger is sloppy. It wants to slip back and forth, is that an assembly problem? or do I need to go deeper like replacing the springs and the pin itself?
