I picked up an old Higgins Model 85 22lr semi. It is missing the HAMMER STOP which appears to be a 5mm x 16mm steel pin, based on the hole it fits in. But I don't know if it's a plain cylindrical pin or maybe has a groove or something?

I know some of you have this gun but it's a long shot that you've broken it completely down lately. I thought I'd take a stab anyway to see if someone might know about this part.

Whatever you do, do NOT take one apart to check. It's a bitch getting the parts together in that part of the gun, due to the powerful springs and difficult working space around the hammer and sear parts.

BTW, the one I have isn't worth taking to a gunsmith. It's pitted and is missing the grips. But I'll bet it'd be a nice shooter if I can make the hammer stop. (No, not available anywhere online, I searched.)

Eventually I may just buy a pin and see if it works, but it's a real pain working on the gun and I'm afraid to waste a lot of time and money on it through trial and error.

Thanks, RC. I guess that's my best bet. I'll see if Bob has the hammer stop for the 32, maybe it'll fit the 22. Otherwise I'll try cutting a bit down. Good idea.
