High Capacity Magazines...Legal in Hunting?

I know that many deer hunting states you can't use a magazine
over 5 rds. Does anyone know about this in Indiana, my question
is...Can I hunt with a high capacity magazine on private land for non-game animals
like groundhogs....an with a hunting license hunt during season
fox an coyotes with a high capacity magazine? Seems I saw a thread
that in some states you don't want to get caught with them even
going for a walk in the woods...anyone have any answers?

What about several lower capacity magazine or clips?

I have some, its not a problem, except for the .22, which can hold
22 rds of ammo. Only clip I have for it, just wondering what the laws state, may just have to give the DNR a call...never know when 30 coyotes with rabies attacks, ..ha.

Your first step, before hunting anything, should be to very throughly read the Fish & Game Department regulations for your state.

But regardless of that, you will most likely need to buy a hunting license in any state to hunt.

And where they sell hunting licenses, they hand out free F&G regulations in printed form.

Groundhogs (woodchucks) may be taken at any time using any equipment without a permit.

in nebraska you dont need a hunting license for yotys or ground hogs and you can hunt them with high cap mags. i would check your state. wall mart should have some booklets for free at the sporting counter that will tell you all you need to no. edit= beat me 2 it:banghead:

The correct answer will depend upon the state you intend to hunt. Many place a limit on cartridge capacity for game animals. I believe that shotguns used for wildfowl purposes are limited to 3 shells by Federal Law. It's interesting that while ducks and geese cannot be shot with any shotgun larger than a 10 gage, it wasn't the larger gage shotguns that did the real damage to the bird populations; it was the repeating shotguns holding large numbers of shells.

For non-game animals and birds, magazine capacity MAY NOT be an issue but to be safe, check your state and local laws.

Some were so large that they couldn't be held to the shoulder and were mounted on a swivel or rested on a swivel device. The larger mounted ones were called "Punt" guns. When I lived in England, there were people who still played around with them but I think they were illegal to hunt with. I wasn't really interested in them so only paid attention in passing.

Illegal to hunt with them in Wyoming. I do use my ak for dogs though. One shot, one kill is fine, but there are a lot of dogs some days.
