Greetings,

Does anybody know of a j-frame belt holster (left hand available) that minimizes the amount of holster/barrel sticking below the belt line. I am not an IWB type of guy, so if its not in my pocket, is on my belt. My cool/cold weather attire consists of various slim cut skateboard/snowboarding hoodies that, due to my long torso, don't extend much past my belt line. With many of the standard designs, such as Uncle Mikes or Bianchi, the holster and gun sit very low relative to the belt, making effective concealment a constant battle of puling down on my hoodie in attempt to hide the bottom of the holster. I am thinking something in the $25-$75 price range would be appropriate, and would be for my .38 Special 2" Model 60.

Thanks,

Hunter

This is from Bulman Gunleather, coincidentally called the THR. It is shown as available for J-Smith snubbies.

However, at $80 it is out of the price target you specified, and his wait time is very long these days - eight months or more.

I think I am going to try to make something very similar soon. I too am not much of an IWB guy and wouldn't mind having a high ride OWB.

Kramer horsehide belt scabbard

I have a Kramer horsehide belt scabbard for a S&W model 642, and it carries the gun very high on the belt, with hardly anything going below the belt. The stiff horsehide keeps the gun from rotating out away from the body. Here is a photo from the Kramer website:
