Hi Gang, Over the weekend I overheard a heated discussion on the high point pistol. As some of you may know from my previous posts I am not fond of them, however I have never heard of one having a dramatic failure, or Kaboom. The two chaps that were arguing, one claiming the high point the greatest thing since the cartridge firearm was ever created, and the other how the damn things blow up in your face. As I listened I thought about how I have seen pictures of Glocks and HK USP pistols that have given up the ghost...but no high points. Does anyone have any info on one blowing up?

:neener: If all you can afford to shoot is a HiPoint, doubt you could afford a digital camera, computer and internet connection :)

Actually one of our larger gun show dealers sells a lot of these and claims he hears few complaints from the buyers, he is also a Kimber master dealer and moves a lot of Kimbers as well. I've see a few people shooting them at the range while I was there and didn't notice the owners having any problems.

OTOH if they always blew up when fired with a 45 degree cant (Gangsta hold) the world would quickly be a better place :)

It's funny how I always hear about HiPoint guns being POSs, yet it's almost always the Glocks I hear about when people talk about kabooms.

That's the way things usually are. Something inexpensive gets all the attention when it malfs, even if it's much less than a $900 piece.

For those who tend to shoot alot, it's a big hobby for them, and they are more likely to invest more in it than a hipoint. Statistically, there will be more kB!'s reported from guns which are being shot more than less, even if the same number of each are actually "out there" (which there are not).

have you SEEN these highpoints? i can't see how one COULD kaboom. looks like you could pack the bore with semtex and not have a problem. they're built like old buicks. i've been thinking about getting one for years, just for laughs.

Those things are not that expensive any more. I've heard a lot of people buy Hi Points for boat/truck guns. If it gets lost, stolen, or damaged they are cheap to replace.

All the Crap you hear about Hi-Point's are rumours started by Gun Snobs who've never fired one. :cuss:

I've owned a HP C9 for four years never had a problem with it. Never FTF, never FTE, never misfired.

Heavy? Yes Cluncky? Yes Ugly? Maybe Unreliable? NO Bad Gun? NO

I just sold mine because I have many other pistols I like better.

You just can't beat a $100 pistol with a lifetime no questions asked warranty.

I still have 2 Hi-Point carbines I love and won't part with.

Basicly "Don't knock em until you try em":neener:
