I just got my dream pistol, a High power 40.cal!! 2004, new in the box. And with lazer sights. But the is a little problem, the slide is very very difficult to pull back.

much more than my 1911...

will it loosen in time... replace a spring or something?

Thanks for the advise, My first post, and new to shooting.

It Might loosen up a little bit with lots of shooting, but not that much. They had to put a stiffer spring in there to tame the .40's slide velocity, I believe...

It will not improve dramatically. You will learn to cock it by holding the slide with your weak hand and pushing the pistol body forward with the strong hand (as opposed to the other way around). It works much better.

Yep, the High power is known, even with the 9mm, to be a little hard to pull back the slide. There's really not much to hold to there.

I thank everyone I will shoot 500 rounds and see if it gets alittle better, and practice the right slide movement.

Somebody needs to come out with a square bottom firing pin stop for the HP like we have for our 1911s. Then you could probably run a little lighter recoil spring and still control the slide velocity. EGW, are you listening?

EGW, are you listening?

If there's anybody who can get a BHP to function properly its George Smith & Crew at EGW. I'd call him anyway at #215-538-1012 to discuss the issue - skeeter_08
