That is an amazing amount of disruption caused by that bullet. Thank you again for your continued reports on different ammo performance. I for one really appreciate it.

As do I. I've been reading your site for years and now watching the vids. You do great work. Thank you.

Well, I don't know how to post a picture, but I'll see if I can get my Son to help me. But I did some testing of my own, nothing as well controlled as this. I hand loaded 125 gr. XTP's, and 158 grain Gold Dot's with maximum listed charges of H110. I shot these through a cardboard box lined with a plastic trash bag and filled with water, and then packed tightly rolled up denim soaked in the water for 15 minutes. The box was 18" in length and both bullet types still went through and through with nearly perfect expansion. They all looked exactly like the pictures we see that describe how XTP's and Gold Dot's are supposed to expand. Kind of cool, and I will try to get those pictures posted, along with some other stuff I've been doing over the years.

If by testing you mean shooting through denim or gelatin, then I have not.

But, if by testing you mean shooting a few hundred out of a Gp100, then yes, I have. I like them, and would load them for carry but it's sighted in for the 125 grainers.

They are stout, and their impact should be similar to the video posted here. The difference in weight presents itself in the "petals" of the hollowpoint, as far as I can tell.

The follow data is published by speer:

The 125 grain (I presume the one shot in the video)

Velocity: 1450
Energy: 584

The 158 grain

Velocity:1235
Energy: 535

Jesse 8,

I just purchased an 3" SP 101 .357 a week ago! I haven't had the chance to do a lot of shooting yet, but will carry this as a CCW piece.

788ham,

I've only had mine for about three weeks now, but I'm glad I did the research, it's a great carry piece. Mine is the three in. version too. And speer gold dot 125's are loaded in it. Before, and ESPECIALLY after this vid.

I shot some of these over my chrono recently and got about 1250-1275 fps average from my 5" GP100, compared to a 1575fps average for my 125gr handloads. This makes me wonder what the extra 300fps gain is really doing for me.

Hey je223. If you have time and or are willing, speer has a new bullet out made with snubbies in mind, a 135 grainer. Perhapse you could test one of those out of a 3 or 2 in barrel. Food for thought.

When I watch that video my whole insides feel like they are being impacted by the bullet. Would deffinately not want to be hit by that. Or any other bullet for that matter.
