Very neat stuff.
If I may ask, what else have you captured on high-speed?

Pyro - "We shoot all sorts of things" :). Some on high speed video, while some are 'static' tests. One of the challenges is getting permission from the tests sponsor to publish the data publicly. Some sponsors are 100% pushing for freedom of information, while others understandably want to treat the data as proprietary and we respect that too.

That is very cool, thanks for sharing. Interesting how the bullet got sucked back by the vacuum within the gel. Do you compensate for this when measuring penetration?

You're welcome.

We'll be updating this section throughout the night.

@Ben86 - for dynamic shots (high speed video), we measure the depth traveled to the very tip of the projectile. For static shots (10% gelatin), we measure the length of the track which is naturally after the block has sprung back from the shot.

Just watched the .25 acp Gold Dot video, was always curious about this round since I have a few of them.
Didn't look like it expanded fully, from the video it seemed a pedal expanded causing the projectile to tumble before the other pedals had a chance to bend out.
35 grain bullets just don't have that much momentum.

Yes that was indeed what happened with the Gold Dot. What causes a hollowpoints expansion is the stagnation pressure at the nose - which is driven by the density of the fluid you are shooting, but exponentially driven by the impact velocity. Velocity is much more important than the density of the fluid.

Speer probably went with a 35gr bullet because they are faster, all else equal, than a 50gr bullet. Chances are that the bullet was either designed in a 4" test barrel or that the chamber pressures are lower in order to accommodate the liability concerns if a gun of questionable condition got exploded with this ammunition.

The hottest round I know is the Fiocchi .25's FMJ I carry; the box says 800 FPS but with a 2.5 barrel I found other rounds running with an extra 40-50 fps (which your tests actually compliment).
I just saw the Glaser Slug video too. If they weren't $13 bucks for 6 bullets I'd get some.

Can you compile the aftermath of the tests in picture form so we can easily compare what they look like?

Could you do a high speed of the 5.7 x 28 round next? I'm curious of how it performs.

Didn't seem like the 5.7 penetrated enough, whats your take on it?

By the way I love your videos, one of my favorite things to watch.
