I have a High Standard Supermatic tournament from I think 1968 according to the serial # What is the best round to shoot through this. It was my grandfathers, and I have had it now for about 20 years. Time to shoot it. It is like new. Thanks for any help.

These guns were designed for match or target ammunition -- which is lower velocity than "High Velocity" ammo which you find at Wal Mart. Look for any reputable brand labeled "pistol match."

High Standard enthusiasts say CCI Standard Velocity works best.

+1

Any standard velocity, if you don't mind cleaning a lot.

Otherwise, any brand "Pistol Match" standard velocity, which should be cleaner burning, if more costly.

But the gun is worth it!
Don't skimp on cheap ammo for it.

I have a few old High Standards; my experience is with the others, CCI standard velocity is the best when balancing cost with shooting. I've had great luck with the Federal Match ammo if you're willing to spend a bunch of money.

I have excellent results with CCI Standard Velocity ammo as well. I also get outstanding accuracy with Wolf Match Target.

My Citation seems to really like the Remington subsonic, which is as close to Match ammo as i can get without driving into houston. heck I don't think i've seen a box of standard velocity CCI in a local store in years, much les legit match loads.

going to Houston in a few hours, this reminds me i need to buy a few hundred rounds of match ammo again.
