Subject: High Power Rifle Fun Match - Nov. 19

Greetings;

There will be a High Power Rifle "Fun Match" at Fairfax Rod & Gun Club Saturday November 19. Not sure if it will be a 500 or 800 aggregate, we'll make that decision after we see what the turnout is, so bring lots of bullets. We'll use NRA rules for this match.

If the weather is nice we need volunteers to hang around after the match to help with replacing the 300 and 600yd cardboard inserts, it shouldn't take long at all. If we have enough volunteers we'd also like to replace the cardboard backers on the 300/600yd frames, so bring a hammer with you if you can help out.

The 2012 HP schedule is attached.

Registration begins at 8:00
Squadding at 8:30
Match fee is $10, $5 for juniors

Bring your staple gun for refacing targets in the pits, exact change is appreciated.

Are you guys actually shooting 300 and 600 yds? Here on LI we don' have any ranges over 200 yds so we are limited to using reduced targets.

I'm curious, too. Fairfax isn't too far of a drive for me to attend a match or two.

I have no idea what it's like to shoot 600 yds. I load 69 Sierras or 68 Hornadys for the whole match. Never fired 77s, nor would I have any idea how many click up at 300 or 600 yds.

We shoot on a 200-yard reduced course at Fairfax.
Not a walk-and-paste. We do have pits and carriers at Fairfax.

When the weather warms up, we get on Quantico.

Now I don't feel bad. I can compete with those scores Now if I could just get my offhand out of the 170's!

I shoot at New Holland Rifle and Pistol. They have a full 600 with a 10 point pit system. Looks like a 3 hour drive, if you're ever interested.
