Obama is ordering his supporters to tweet calls for gun control preceded by #NowIsTheTime.

AR15.com and Reddit Guns are organizing a plan to hijack it so that pro 2A messages overwhelm the system. Simply tweet #NowIsTheTime followed by a pro gun message or slogan to help.

unless they just count the #tag and call it a success. people actually read tweets?

All they are going to do is count the total and say "look at all these tweeter posts that are for our agenda."

That we can say that Obama "orders" his supporters to do something--and those words don't raise an eyebrow--says a lot about the cult following he has. One wonders if there's anything his coven would not do at his behest.

Anyone can use any words to describe things however they choose -- that doesn't mean that those words are correct and valid or meaningful.

Someone using that phrase on this forum hardly counts as saying "a lot" about the POTUS' following. It says more about the poster than it does about Obama's 'coven'.

What if we make our own? I don't have Twitter, don't really know how it works. I assume we could just as easily start one though, right?

The idea is to co-opt their message and turn it to our favor; a tiny bit of civil disobedience. There are already thousands of pro-gun tweets/twits/tweeters that "All the President's Men" will never see.

Creating an online account using an assumed name is a federal felony.
Cite that law, please? I've been the subject of numerous federal background checks, and I've answered hundreds of questions about whether or not I've violated very specific laws, many of which were incredibly trivial, and others which I didn't even realize were a crime. All that and I've never been asked if I've created any online account under an assumed name.

No it is not. Setting up an account using someone else's idenity may be, but setting up an account using an assumed name (alias) is NOT against the law

Under the eyes of the law it's hacking.

Which article in you link says that. Which specific one? I read through it and I did not find anything that even remotely said creating an online account with an alias is a crime. You link has to do with breaking into computers

It makes unauthorized access a crime. Hard to say you're authorized if you use a fake name. They've even prosecuted people for making facebook pages under someone else's name. http://www.switched.com/2010/12/20/m...boss-facebook/

If you create the account under a fake name you can access it. You created it of course you can access. If you create it posing as someone else (who actually exist) then you have committed a crime

You are getting identity theft and assumed name confused. They are totally different. It is illegal to use someone else's identity but not to make up a fake nonexistent one.

The Facebook arrest are identity theft. They posed as other actual people. The first link is about access to computers and other people's accounts that are not yours. It has nothing to do with making up fake names or alias. No offnse but Your claim that "creating an online account with an assumed name is a felony" is not correct. I think you are getting your terms crossed.

Making a twitter account as Tennjed is perfectly legal. Making a twitter account as Piers Morgan and then trying to make people believe I am him is illegal. 2 completely different things

If I make a twitter account with the user name TXBubba79, and I register it under the pseudonym Haywood J Beerme, that isn't illegal as I am not trying to impersonate someone. However, it may be against Twitter's terms of service.

I'm not sure how effective making pro-2A statements under President Obama's hashtag will be. I like the idea of some civil disobedience, but if they are just counting hashtags, I think it will be counter productive.

I'd love to help with the tweeting, unfortunately I just checked the mirror and nope, still not a teenage girl, guess I'll be remaining clueless on the whole tweet scene. :)

Ah, see I'm all out of whack.

Remember Myspace?

Remember AIM? :D

I did the facebook thing for awhile but left it, too many posts about stupid stuff. If my friends want to talk to me they will next time I see em.
