Hiking Staff Sword

I've been looking at purchasing a sword cane or staff but have been very disappointed with the selection. I remember several years ago before my state had a concealed carry license I found a site that sold both Sword Canes and Hiking Staff swords. Some of the canes and hiking staff swords were made out of pieces of wood that looked like a stick you would pick up on a walk through the woods. They were very unnoticeable. They were rather expensive but for the quality of the conceal I'd say worth it. They were also very well made with almost if not a full tang seated deep into the hilt portion of the staff or cane. Alas, I've lost that site so now I'm searching for something similar. I have some formal training with staff weapons and have fenced for years so I'm very comfortable with the sword or staff for defense. I have a concealed carry permit but I'm looking for a weapon that is unobtrusive and useful. Any ideas?

Well the two versions I liked were the cane and hiking staff that looked like some branch you pick up and break all the excess off to use when you're going for a good walk or hike. I like the cane version better as it's smaller and I could conceivably use it as a cane when not hiking and a walking stick when hiking. To give you more of an idea - this is somewhat what it looked like except they came in a variety of sizes - they had a protective matt finish on them so they didn't look finished or shiny like this does. It really looked like you just picked up a stick on a stroll through the woods shaved all the extra branches and the like off and started walking with it - but on top of that type of natural look it contained a sword as well.

I found out from a friend of mine that had also seen them than he'd looked into buying one and they were selling for between $300-$500 - unfortunately he also doesn't remember the name of the website.

Check your local laws before you get too excited. Sword canes and overlength knives can net serious consequences if you get caught in the wrong place with them.

Good advice! I already have... they're legal in my state with permit as there are no length restrictions for concealed blades of any kind.

Bladeart.com, if I recall correctly, has high-quality sword canes made in South Africa, but I cannot recall the maker's name at the moment.

I found a great white oak wood branch at the beach and have been slowly sanding it. After it's all done It will have a nice smooth surface, leather hand grip and I'll add something ornimental to the top most likely a crystal of some kind. It has the perfect diameter is very straight like the one pictured above. Nice grain and knots too.

Dual purpose - First and foremost, a walking aid, secondary purpose of self defense. Probably anyone that has walked through the woods for a length of time could tell you how useful a walking stick can be for many reasons including reducing fatigue so that would be it's primary purpose. Self defense would be secondary.
