Do a search on this site for these two cartridges. Even though they are nominal .311 bore diameter, they are different in their preferences based on rifling design and bore/throat diameter tolerances. I have several of each and each is a rule onto itself.

Does your Lee-Enfield rifle have 2-groove rifling?
Maybe you are familiar with possible issues using boat tail bullets. I bought my first Longbranch rifles last winter.

You might already know that most people only neck-size.
A once-fired case used in one of my (3) #4 rifles seldom chambers in any other Enfield after reloading.
The same applies to my #5s, regarding most cases.

Several labeled plastic bags are kept to keep reloads separate.

Hmmm ...

No two groove rifling. Have not tried to chamber spent rounds in my buddies Enfield, but I'll give that a try. It'll either be they are both off the same, or whiting some sort of tolerance - we'll see.

Regarding the 7.7 - what powders and bullets does yours prefer?
