In our local paper today was an article saying Pancho Villa's engraved 1875 Remington was going to be auctioned off Saturday in Fredricksburg, Texas. Tom Burks, manager of the auction was the curator for the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco, Texas. Also auctioned off will be a Mauser carbine rifle of Pancho's and a pocket pistol that once belonged to Calamity Jane. Article did not give any specifics about where the auction was (as is normal for this paper. At least they spelled "Pancho Villa" correctly :p)

As one collector of Western guns and memorabilia said, apparently Pancho Villa was followed at all times by a mule train loaded with revolvers, all of which he found time to subject to heavy use.

I'd sure want to see the provenance before I bid.

Friend of mine with deeper pockets than me is going to the auction.

He promises pictures if they will allow it.

It is my understanding that you have to be pre-qualified as a potential bidder before you can get it, which is why my broke ass isn't going :)
