History Channel's "Top Shot" on Sunday night

I like the show, but there is a couple things I don't understand.

Some of the contestants have never used a bow, or are unfamiliar with a handgun, or are only good with old guns.

Isn't it supposed to be the Top Shot? Meaning people good with ALL kinds of weapons. Don't get me wrong, some of these guys are amazing at certain weapons, but I continually saw some of them complaining and trashing others.

In my opinion, History could have picked a few more all-around, more skilled people.

I thought it was a good episode...more interesting than the last couple.

I also thought the choice of the "TZ99" to be odd...I bet there were more than one google searches on that one after the show haha.

Blue team should have just let Jim and Tara duke it out in the elimination. Ian got more than he bargined for in the elimination!

A jack of all trades will never be as good as a master of one. In the end though, in a competition like this you need to be both.

I like the show. My wife and kids watch it with me, which means more than you can imagine. I have to watch the cup cake show, they have to watch top-shot. I have to watch some cake bake off, they have to watch pickers. :)

Yup - my wife used to make watch top chef. Now she watches top shot with me. I think the show is probably most similar to top chef as you have a mix of experience and backgrounds. It's kind of neat to see how they match up - I think my wife likes it more than me at this point. I just hope she doesn't think I'm watching American idol with her now. That will never happen!

I enjoyed the episode, finally watched it on On-Demand, and yeah.. Jim never really had a chance--I had to watch it several times to see what happened.

Kelly's misses in the training portion had me worried for a moment that we'd see another red team loss--but the blind challenge made a difference.

I'm still enjoying it!

The TZ-99 was a South African made version of the CZ-99 which is made in Serbia. It has a resemblence to the Sig 226 but the decocker/slide release is different. The CZ-99 was being sold by CDNN for around $325 recently. Apparently the South African company went out of business very fast. I can only assume that the show producers initially tried to get one of the major manufacturers to pay a product placement fee and when they all turned the show down they went with an obscure, no longer in existence company so no one could get any free publicity out of it.

Unless the producers forced Ian to volunteer for the challenge I still think he's a tool. Who preyed on someone he perceieved to be a weak shot. You're right I don't know him I'm going strictly on his actions not what the producers edit in or out. If it was Blake or JJ I highly doubt we would have seen him be so quick to volunteer.

You may be right. I think he saw an opportunity to get rid of what he perceived as a weak link, which is ultimately good strategy. There is a survivor element to the competition and I think Ian is already competing with that in mind.

it's done, I gritted my teeth and fast forwarded the drama.

more shooting... less interpersonal waste would help it for me, but it's a start.

I have been enjoying the show, but I can't stand the "survivoresque" drama of it all. The producers really did a good job of getting those conflicting personalities on each team.

This is an interesting show, although a few of the tasks could be construed as somewhat "unrealistic" or at least impractical. Plus, there is the whole idea of drudging through the "reality tv" banality. But, given that this is a "made for television" concept, that goes with the territory. Overall, good show.

Same thing goes for "Deadliest Warrior;" another good program (minus the in-your-face "reality tv" slant).

ok, they replayed all the episodes yesterday and i watched Jim's turn shooting plates and there was NO way he could have not taken out both colored plates on that shot.

They were released at the exact same time and stuck with eachother the entire challenge. Either someone sucked at doing their job releasing the plates at the right time or it was rigged from the begining.

Also to Caleb's response about how there is a steel backer and that could have saved him, the steel backers all had holes in it that appear to let the round go clean through.

That was totally rigged.

Bummer it wasn't on the up and up.

Taking this thread as a cue, I just caught up on the reruns and am glad that I finally got the chance to watch it. It's interesting, entertaining, and has given me some ideas for my next range visit -- nothing wrong with that. I do wish that they would spend less time showing the behind-the-scenes "drama" of personalities playing out (the radio fool doesn't like Kelly -- so what?) and more time demonstrating specific shooting skills, but it's still a far better show than what you usually find on TV these days.

I really enjoy the show, a few of the guys seem like very mature competitors and some very decent shooters, I'll continue to follow this show.

Some of the shooters are also very average and surpise, lack all around skills. Watched the first 2 shows and know more. Just another made for tv drama. The producers have put together just what hey want and not a rounded group of the best . An they edit these show for all the BS they can.

Yep, mature competitors, decent shooters, and immature clowns demanding respect (red team). So far, older guys with attitude issues have decided it is their job to take out the younger guys for whom they hold disdain because they aren't showing the proper respect and three times the older guys have gone home.

The blue team seems to have a strategy to win as a team first. The red team seems to be every man for himself and it is hurting them.

If you're gonna lie to us...do a better job please.

Well we have proof that the shots being shown to us aren't the actual shots that were fired in the "competitions". The shot that Andre just fired at the 50yd target was shown on the "dramatic slow mo" as a low right hit that was about an inch from the dead center of the target. When the shot was marked by the scorekeeper it was shown to be high left. Not that I have any naive illusions about reality shows but if they're going to farce shots and who knows what else then they could do a better job of hiding it.

I think the show needs to rethink the name to "stupid drama shooting show." If you really want to find the top shot make it a individual point system and the bottom 2 or 4 go into a elimination round and put a stop to all this MTV bull crap of voting people off. Come on history channel I dont think the people that like to watch or are shooting enthusiasts want all this drama.

I agree with Nighthawk. Let the best man(woman) be standing.

Course, if they wanted to settle their drama with an old fashioned duel, that would be fine.

Talking **** to someone is fine-- but someone HAS to go! :D

Anyways... That Adam reminds me of a certain feminine product....
