History Channel's "Top Shot" on Sunday night

Agreed, finally a show about shooting.

Kelly really took a hit going first on the hillclimb. As he said, he burned time loading more than one round per gun, not knowing that a clean run would be so common.

I really liked Kelly and it sucks that he lost although he shot flawlessly. He just waisted too much time on the loading. I am however happy to see Adam go. I am going for Pete mainly because he is a Marine and he has served this country well but also because he is slightly odd.

Kelly's problem was he went first and figured a miss and reload was slower than just loading 2 to start. the others knew they'd have to hit with every shot to beat him and had to risk just loading 1 round. they had nothing to lose, an extra round loaded would be as fatal as a miss...as proven by Adam

Too bad to see Kelly go, he seemed to be the favorite around here.

It's tough going first, he had no idea that loading extra rounds would be his demise. Also, why am I not surprised that JJ bested everyones times? I think he will win the competition. But I am rooting for Peter or Chris now.

Despite the over dramatic stuff, it was still interesting to see the politics. These aren't the "top shots" in the world, just who will end up the best of the group.

that was a good episode of top shot! just too bad Kelly lost, like everybody said he took extra time loading his mags, my wife was happy that Adam is gone hehehe, she said he just talked too much or something..i think JJ can win it all the way but Peter can definetly give him a run for his money, the dark horse is that guy Ian he got skills..and yes my wife likes the show and she is not a gun person either..side note the 1st guy who got eliminated totally messed up!! I thought kelly was done when he went against that guy, he was a good pistol shooter too, I guess its a bad day at the range for him..

even the LA state USPSA champion has an off day...at least he didn't complain about having to shoot a Beretta.

that was only the 2nd flinch we've seen him have during the whole show. the first was in the first blue team selection when he wasn't even looking at the target

Awesome show last night! Why can't all of them be like that? Sucks that Kelly went like that. I was absolutely tickled to see rat fink boy go though.

Adam going home wasn't much of a surprise, he was probably the weakest player remaining and largely made it as far as he did on the strength of the blue team (only had to go to 1 elimination challenge) and Caleb's inability to outmanuever him politically.

Sad to see Kelly go that way. He mistakenly guessed accuracy would be more important than speed, not an unreasonable assumption before seeing a couple people go.

i was shocked to see only a couple people be smart on shooting that fuse. Aim for the stapled part so there is no sag. I would have put all 10 in that area and hoped 1 hit that staple using it as a guillotine so to speak.

Really sucked to see Kelly go. When he ran it flawlessly i was like "DAMN! Kelly is THE MAN!"... then the other guys had the flawless runs. Him going 1st really killed his chances. He wasn't aggressive enough ripping up that hill and then the extra ammo loaded to be safe killed his chances of moving on.

Oh, and "Ratfink" guy... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!..... Very happy to see him off the show. I couldn't stand that guy.

All the shooters left seem to be very very stand up guys and i think any could win but im now pullin' for JJ.

JOe

Yeah, I liked his attitude. "I'm going to go home and put about a million rounds through my production gun."

It was the best show they have had so far. I record it so I don't have to listen to all the BS drama stuff. I also think it is to bad Kelly got knocked out and if he went second, I think he would still be there. Now I think JJ is the only "real" competative shooter left. So far, I have been pretty unimpressed with most of the shooters on that show.

knowing a couple of the shooters, i'd say that the show says more about how much affect pressure to perform has on very good shooters...added to limited experience with unfamilar weapons

Best episode yet, too bad Kelly suffered a "double elimination." No other shooter on the show has had as much trigger time (on the show, not in general) as Kelly.

This episode just further shows how much gamesmanship, ability to handle pressure and anticipating results comes into play when in any type of competition. This weeks format was great. I think they should start with a larger group next year and have a couple of episodes like this in the beginning to narrow the field. Great show, I continue to enjoy it with my wife and daughters.

Im very happy with the final 4. Im goin for JJ or Pete. Both have stuck out from the beginning. Kelly was a good shooter and got to much flak the whole time he was on the show. Liked how they did more shooting and made the slowest and worst shooters go home instead of voting off who they didnt like. Maybe they will change it for next season.

It would have been personally gratifying to see Kelly to have succeeded in this episode as validation of his skill. The strategic decision to load mags more than one round is an example of how these competitions can be as much about thinking about how you're going to run the course as it is about pure accuracy or speed.

This should have been the format from the first episode. I wanted kelly to win it all, but will be happy with any of the final four now that Adam and Denny are gone.

I didn't personally dislike Denny, but he never shot well.

And Adam, well.... Its already been said....

I was sad for Tara. I felt bad for her and her family. I would have liked to see how far she could have gone.
Tight family ties is the backbone of this country.
I think anyone of the remaining 4 could take it.

According to a buddy of mine (a huge Survivor nut) that a show with too much shooting would be boring!!!!! How can doing some cool shooting with cool guns be boring??!!!!!! I argued that there are enough reality shows that follow Survivor's format so why would Top Shot want to be just another follow the leader reality show?

He actually preferred the inter-personal relationships and scheming until the teams were dissolved. I personally thought that stuff was silly and thank God for the fast forward button on my DVR. I have never watched Survivor, but if it has the same format, it sucks.

I personally loved the latest show. More shooting, less blabbing and other irrelevant stuff.

I also am getting somewhat tired of Colby Donaldson. He talks too much.

Aw come on now...I mean, if it wasn't for his dazzling (master of the obvious) narration, how would we know:
1. Kelly misses on his first shot.
2. Adam hits!
3. Ian has 3 rounds left.
4. Jim is now loading a round in the Mosin-Nagant.
5. Peter has 1 target left.
Etc...
I've come awfully close to hitting the mute button on many more than one occasion just so I wouldn't have to listen to him. :banghead:

Because not everybody is as passionate about what we do as we are, that's why. Should there be more? I think so, but some people here seem not so hot on the idea because those new people might not conform to their idea of what a shooter should be.

Because it works, that's why. TV (and all mass media) work of the concept of "Least Objectionable Programming": The content is designed not to get you engrossed and excited, rather, it's sole purpose is to not get you to change channels. They're not interested in putting out the absolute best product they can, they're interested in putting out the absolute most profitable program they can.

I really enjoyed the most recent episode, and liked the additional focus on shooting with a variety of rifles and handguns.

One production-related gripe I have, however, is that they always use the same "bang" sound for every firearm! I know it's really difficult to record a gunshot live, but I wish they'd get some good audio mixers who can actually mix in the appropriate sound for each firearm for season 2.

All in all, this show is a net positive for our 2A rights.

Good next to last episode. I hated to see Kelly go. I thought he was the sleeper in the whole group and would find a way to win. He shot first in this episode. Maybe they should not have allowed the other shooters to watch the competition as it progressed. Things might have been different and knowing that Kelly did not miss any targets hurt Kelly and helped the others.
