HK 416

I just foud out that HK isn't planning to make the 416 variant available to us lousy civvies. Feds and cops only need apply. For those of you not yet in the loop, this is a redesigned AR upper with a new gas trap mechanism. Said to be both highly reliable and accurate(!). Rumor has it Colt is planning to do the same. Anybody heard of any other companies like bushmaster with similar plans? It absolutely frosts me that HK would treat us like that. I wont be buying anything else from them either.

Leitner-Wise and POF are both making gas-piston uppers for the AR15, and selling to civilians.

If you are willing to wait a few months and pay an arm and a leg, you too can have a gas piston AR.

Bushmaster has plans to market a piston driven AR. The word is that they are using a POF upper with a Bushmaster lower. Here are some links with some info.

DSA also markets an AR with the POF upper. They call it the GTC - Gas Trap Carbine.

I ordered my upper directly from POF because they offer a variety of barrel lengths and twists, comps/FHs, and hand guard options that were unavailable from DSA.
