I am watching the FA91 rifle on one acution. Planning to buy it. I do, however, have two questions for you, folks. In the past, you have been given very kind and very informative in your answers, and before anything, I wish to thank you all for helping and teaching me.
Here is the question. The rifle is FA91, the bidding starts at $450.
Is it a good price for a rifle that had "no more then 100 rounds through it"? I talked to people who have FA91, and they are happy with it. "Ugly but reliable and as accurate as HK91" is the quote I heard many times. What is your opinion on those rifles?
The other question is very important, as it will affect my decision.
I asked the seller if the rifle has "ground bolt". His reply was: "bolt has one of 2 grooves machined through". What does it mean? Why would a groove be machined through? Should I stay away from this rifle?

I thank you very much for all your advice and help.

In my humble, honest opinion that I formed after really looking hands on hard at a number of different "clone" rifles and having fairly extensive shooting sessions with genuine H&K G3 and M91 rifles,,,,,,
The ONLY "Clone" rifle even worth considering is the JLD Enterprise,( Now known as PTR-91 Inc.), Ptr-91 rifle line.
Nothing else except the originals compare.

Uhh, thanks but can you please...

Let me know about what does it mean the bolt has one groove machined through?
I know well of PTR91. I also know well that I can't afford it.
To me, it is either FA91, CETME or NOTHING!!!
So, can you please, let me know about FA91 and the machined groove, please

I would guess he's talking about the groove on the underside of the carrier. By continuing the machining of the slot all the way to the rear of the carrier, you remove the ability of the carrier to activate the sear trip lever, IIRC.

Should I stay away from this rifle?

Yes. FA91= Federal Arms, aluminum receiver=bad news. The "screws" that secure the trunnion in the receiver will elongate the holes into slots with extensive shooting. Essentially, the receiver will wear out.
