HK On My Mind My Mind On HK

Top of the line Kraut engineering at its best. :D

I've never had any problems with any of my HK handguns. Even the 20 year old P7M8 I owned worked great. Any of the USPs are probably more accurate than their user and so far I've only had 2 jams between all the HK guns I owned. One was a limpwristed shot and the other was Wolf ammo.

Bought one of the first 40's back in 1993 when they were introduced.

Still have it - utterly reliable, thousands of rounds through it, looks and feels new. Can count the number of FTF's or jams on one hand usually the fault of offbrand ammo.

Fairly accurate. Crappy trigger. Very good SD gun especially in variant 1 (decocker, safety).

Considered overpriced by some, especially the glock crowd. Worth the money in my book.

100% Reliable? Absolutely! Thousands of rounds through my compact 40 and not one malfunction.

100% Accurate? Yes! Way more accurate than I am.

100% Overpriced? Hell yeah!

100% Worth it? Definately. :D

I got a Compact .45 after I had started with 1911's.

The 1911's are gone. The H&K is my home defense gun.

The thing that amazed me about the H&K is not only is it reliable but it is as accurate as my Custom Kimber.

I've read on another forum how the mag springs need to be replaced because they wear out fast. Is that true?

I have a USP40 fullsize.

Reliable and accurate.
Crappy trigger and the worst serrations on a backstrap I have ever had to grip. OUCH!! 500rnds and you got a nice red tatoo running down the inside of your hand.
Overpriced? Probably. Just like ebay, one person's junk in another person's treasure. (I'm not calling the USP junk, just an example)

That's a good price. Shoot before you buy if possible.

has the full size models with two standard cap mags for $585.

Too bad you missed out on CDNN a year or two ago, nickel finished slides, full sized USPs with standard land and groove barrels, only $469 with night sites too! That is when I got my USP40. The trigger on it is pretty good, never tried another USP to compare. I have no problem with the stippling on the grip, it leaves the imprint just squeezing, but 250+ rounds and it still didn't hurt. Totally reliable, and accurate. And now with normal mags available, even better. Too bad CDNN sold out of the LEO marked ones at $20 each so fast.

For only $560, why not pick up one of the Para LTC they have on the closeout page too? :D

Boringly reliable is how I would describe it.

My USP9 has never once failed to fire in nearly 2500 rounds. It is far more accurate than I am and is built as tough as nails.

The local range had one or two in the rental case and said that they finally had to order new barrels after 100,000 rounds.

I'm in the mood for a USP45 to keep the 9mm company.

HK makes an extremely reliable platform in the USP. The ergonomics are a little large for some, but I think they're great weapons.

At that price......get one and find out for yourself!

100% reliable. I have close to 5000rd's through the gun and it has never missed a beat. No FTF or jams or anything. Nothing bud absolute perfection.

Trigger doesn't bother me that much. Something you just gotta get used to I guess.

And AMEN to the serrations on a backstrap! Even a short time at the range will eat up your hand. I've been looking into the hoge sleves to see if that'll help. This is actually my biggest problem with the gun.

FWIW, over 2 years ago I was chosing my gun. I was looking at the HK 40 or the Glock 22. The Glock fit my hand so much better than the HK I almost bought it. I went to a range that rented guns and shot them. The Glock still fit better, but the HK shot sooo much better. I was also more accurate with the HK too.

Overpriced... yeah. But you know you have a superior gun.

I have a USPc in .45 caliber. This gun has been absolutely reliable. I have about 800 rounds through it, both FMJ and Hydra Shok, and have never had a single malfunction of any kind. The trigger seems bad compared to a 1911, but the accuracy is nevertheless excellent.
