I plan to purchase a .40 SW semi-auto. Thinking about a Sig or H&K, or similar ---- will use both for range and carry purposes. I prefer the DA/SA action. Suggestion will be muich appreciated. Thanks

I have carried an H&K USPc in .45 Auto for many years now, it's a great gun. I got the variant 1 so I can carry in condition 1, 2, or 3 and I still have a decocker.

I recently got a full size USP Tactical which I LOVE. My compact is stilla great gun but I really like that new Tactical.

Sigs are also great guns. I've never had one but my friend had a 220 that he really liked. It was a nice gun but I prefer the way the USP sits in my hand. Ergonomics are an individual thing so I'd suggest going to a gun store somewhere and holding each one you consider.

In either case, you won't get a bad pistol from one company or the other.

I'm shooting a Sig in .40. Recoil is much lighter than in the plastic pistols. Quality is top notch. Accuracy is great.

Here is some choices...all good...I carry the HK2KSK

BTW, a Glaco holster for the HK2000SK will also be a perfect fit for the HK P30.

I did wonder about polymer vs. metal. Recoil dosen't bother me but I can't decide if easier carry weight is going to cost me accuracy on that 2nd shot

I will have to vote Sig, as far as im concearned there is no better 40S&W pistol on the market. I have shot and carried darn near all there is available in 40 and the Sig wins hands down.

I carry the Sig P239 .40. It is extreemely accurate and the single-stack makes it thin enough to hide easily.

You can't go wrong with either the Sig or HK. Both are excellent gun makers. THey do, however, differ greatly in their triggers and control placements.

Rent them both, shoot, shoot, and then you'll have your answer. Dollars to donuts, you'll shoot better with one and that particular gun will fit your hand better, aim better, and cycle better.

Whichever gun that is, buy it. (In my case, it was the HK. Plus we carry the HK USP40c in the cockpit with us so that was a bonus!)

Both are good, but different

I have a .40 in each brand, a Sig P229 and H&K USP 40c. They are both good guns, accurate and reliable.

The biggest difference is that the polymer USP weighs about 24 ounces empty, while the aluminum frame Sig weighs about 32 ounces empty. If you are carrying, that is half a pound of weight difference. But when shooting the gun, the extra weight seems to absorb recoil a little better and allow faster follow up shots. So I'd pick the USP for carry or the Sig for the range.
