I just sent in my HK USP45C to have an LEM (DAO) trigger put in, instead of the DA/SA I have in it now. They can adjust trigger pull weight anywhere from 8.5 lbs down to 4.5 lbs. I asked for the 4.5 lb trigger pull.

I got into the DAO because my Kel-Tec P3AT was DAO and I found that even though it is a heavy pull, at least it is consistent. It got me to thinking that I would like my HK to have a consistent pull from shot to shot instead of the first shot being too heavy and subsequent shots being by contrast very light.

Has anyone here ever transitioned from DA/SA to DAO with the LEM on an HK? How did it feel? Did I go too light asking for the 4.5 lb trigger?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I called H & K Civilian Repair Shop (which is different than their Military and Law Repair Shop and is located in Trussville, AL) at 205-655-8299 and asked to speak to the repair shop. Spoke with a guy named Travis and he and I went over the procedure: Send the gun in with a letter and a contact number and they would quote you the job (parts, labor, return shipping). He said it usually runs under $150.00 (more like $110.00). You get the gun back with the old trigger in a separate bag.

As far as doing this yourself, I've read of people here who claimed to have done it (but it seems to me a complicated procedure) and it might void the warranty. I've also read (maybe somewhere here) that H & K does not ship the parts because they do not want people (other than H & K armorers) doing this job themselves. I do not know which side is correct. I did not ask Travis if he would ship me the parts so I could do it myself, but I guess if you were confortable doing this, you could ask him if H & K would do that. I know I have seen a link somwhere here for doing this work with pictures and instructions (way more than I am qualified to attempt myself at this stage).

Good luck. I will report in once I get the gun back and take it to the range.
