I have a P30L and am hitting left.
Gun has the small panels and backstrap.
Thought maybe the funky trigger.
Swapped to medium panels, gun feels way different.

LGS has a like new VP9. But since used I could try before purchase.
It appears to have the smaller panels on it, but also felt like the backstrap had more hump.
Salesguy offered to swap them and let me shoot but I declined.
Shot with whatever it had. 5 shots.

30 ft.

Now my arm is jacked up (shoulder issue) and the cold had my arthritis raging.
First shot was low and left and that was me flubbing it.
Next was dead on.
I aimed at that bullet hole and shot it with the next. Cool.
Next two were same height, but left.........like my normal P30 shooting.

Was prepared to buy the VP9.

Have read left is common w the P30 and it appears w my hands, also the VP9.

I can run Glocks and even little P365s w no issue. Hi Powers and 1911s, revolvers......all fine.
May have rear sight slightly right, but not much, and my groups are good.
Have shot IHMSA and hunted........whatever my form is, right or wrong, I shoot well.

But not with the HK VP9 or P30.

I do OK with large frame Sigs but do better w Glocks.

Am wondering if HK and I are not a good fit.

Have swapped my P30 to medium panels and will shoot tomorrow at same range.

My little P365 is a champ and I can run it fast and its dead on. Best 500 bucks I've spent in a long time. Wondering it I need to forgo the VP9 and just get a 365XL

I bought the Vp9 when it was released. Everything was great till I shot it at speed. My grip caused many issues.. I still own several HK's, but.the VP was not conductive to my shooting style

My VP9 came with Medium side panels and backstrap installed. Grip felt okay but not all that comfortable with my smaller size hand. Switched to the Small side panels and backstrap and the pistol felt a great deal better. Sort of reminded me of how a Browning Hi-Power feels every time I pick one up.

Agree the small feels better on my P30L but im consistently left. The VP 9 was some dead on and some left.

Am trying to figure out what Im doing wrong

But am not gonna worry too much about it since everythng else shoots fine for me.
My hands are medium sized and thin, so most guns are fine.

My P365 is a no brainer. Just pull it up and look at green dot front and it hits where pointed. And I can run it fast, like mag dump fast ( shot steel plates w it and surprised the gang ).

May end up w a 365 xl too.

But want one duty type 9mm for general shooting. We blast clays on the banks at 25 and 50 w .22lr and 9mm.

Good fun.

Was hoping a VP9 would fit the bill.

Try a couple of things and if it doesnt get corrected just go back to a Hi Power.

Update. Med panels and backstrap did not help. Only way I got it to shoot straight was to change grip and ride thumb on slide stop

Then it puts em center.

Im not a tacticool and shoot a more target/ hunting grip.

Shot the Python left as well. But its got new sights and haven't adjusted. Like w all my orev revolvers, a couple clicks to the right and itll be fine.

Not worried about it. First shot w cold hands and arthritis was high left. The next 4 a ragged hole just left of the bullseye.

Ugh. Theres almost always that one LOL

Bifocals, indoors, blower on.....not the easiest way to shoot. Couple clicks and itll.be fine.

Switch to your other hand, two handed, see if your shots are now right. When I shoot right or left, I give the front sight a death stare, and everything seems to center up:)

I had an APX that shot left unless I put the large backstrap in. I didn't like it because it didn't feel good. But, it fixed the shooting left thing. Maybe try the largest?

A few other people at the Beretta Forum tried it after I said this, and it worked for them too.

I originally started with Large backstrap / Medium side panels on my VP9, then went to Medium for all. I'm now at Small backstrap / Medium side panels and seem to have found my Goldilocks grip. Don't be afraid to mix-n-match to see if you can find a combo that works.

I have taken some hand, wrist and shoulder damage over the past yr. Part of the problem may be due to alignment/ weakness.

So will work on continued rehab.
Work is physical will extend rehab time.
This is gonna take a while.

Smalls are on it now. Maybe shoot this weekend and see.

I had similar issue with a USP back in the day. Just never could shoot it as good as I did the 1911 at the time. Looking at the 9mm, I shoot and feel more comfortable with the Beretta 92x and Sig P365/P226 than I did the HK.

Some things just do not always gel with you like you want them too. I was really interested in the Walther PDP, until I held one and tried it out. Just didn't feel right. Tried a Canik, didn't like the trigger like I do on the Sig P365. That's why it is so important to be able to try out, rent and see what feels right nad makes sense for you.

I'm right handed and I've settled on large right side, small left side and medium back strap for my VP9sk. Combo just seems the best for me.

Just keep trying combos its pretty customizable!!! That's what I did to settle on where I'm at currently

I have both VP9 and P30L and both shoot great for me. But there are some pistols I have tried that I don't shoot so well and I believe it usually has to do with too little trigger reach.

Sometimes a failry minor adjustment to grip can help such as increasing grip tension with the strong hand front to back pinching the grip into the back of your hand or with the support arm move the elbow out just a little to increase pressure from your suport hand into the area where it is contacting the grip in that void left behind your strong grip fingers

I've got a VP9 that just feels better with asymmetric (LH small, back med, RH med) side plates.
