Hello everyone,

So I’m not sure where exactly to put this thread so here goes I am trying to figure out when the Print annual magazine started the one that comes out every year and I have every issue from 2014 on I am looking to complete the set if anyone can point me in a direction to order older issues I’d be most appreciative also I’ll buy them off of a THR member I’m mainly looking for the 2010 edition any help is appreciated thank you

Sincerely,

According to Hodgdon's website "The Hodgdon Annual Manual is in its 19th year of production, maintaining a remarkable sell through on the newsstand, and an additional 30,000 copies sold through our distributors." So the first year would probably have been 2004? Can't help you with back issues. Actually that quote was from 2022 edition so maybe the first year was 2003?

Ok thank you

IMO you can get that information from Hodgdon. Write them and ask what was the first year of issue and if they have past issues available. They may even know where you can bet them if they don't have back issues.

Please let us know what the answer is.

Great idea thanks I’ll ask

It was at least 2003, as I have one of those here by my side. But may need clarification as there are two of these produced. One called an "annual manual" that appears in magazine from. The other, is a thinner, low cost publication that also includes shotgun data. The one I have from 2003 includes shotgun data.

But the concept of powder companies offering load data manuals is also something that goes back a long way. I have a reloading data pamphlet produced by Hercules (now Alliant) that goes back to 1970 or so.

The earliest one I have is a 2003 which is the first one I ever encountered. I have an almost complete collection to the current one, however I'm missing 2005 and 2012. I don't know if I failed to buy them at the time or they got misplaced over the years.

That’s awesome I’m sorry to hear about your missing 2 issues

I lived in Minnesota from 1979 to 1987. I had a black book Hodgdon's reloading manual (#1 ?) I bought 1982-1983 for 45 ACP load date using HS-6 powder and 255 grain cast semi-wadcutters for bowling pins. I threw the book away and used the paper edition. 1911 had a compensated barrel and 24# recoil spring. Definitely a 2-handed hold and pins flew off the table without a center line hit.
