I bought a bunch of used relaoding equipment, and the most interesting thing I aquired was a Hollywood reloading press. I have never seen anything quite like it (I am new to reloading so I do not know much). I have never seen such solid press. What can anybody tell me about it?

A buddy had one back in the day, from the Hollywood Gun Shop, really well made turret press. Older than the hills, but solid as a rock.

Hi Victor1Echo,

Post some images..!

It'd be fun to see.

There were several different Models, some Single Die, some Turret.

All high quality, good looking, and well thought of.

I still use the Hollywood press that I bought used from one of my college professors back in 1963 for $25.00, when I first started reloading. They are well made and sturdy presses.

Since the original Hollywood Gun Shop closed it's doors back around the late 1960's, the name has been sold several times, and the quality varied with each owner. Some were good, and some weren't, and with one owner in the late 1970's, it depended on how much he'd had to drink whether the product was good or bad.

If I knew how to post a picture to a forum, I'd post a picture of mine, but I don't. I'm a reloader, not a computer person.........

Hope this helps.

Fred

Does yours look like this or is it a turret?
This is my Hollywood Senior, it's around 55 years old and I use it regularly.

The old Hollywood presses were excellent tools and still are. I have one in my collection that I still enjoy using occasionally. I saw one of these listed on ebay a few weeks ago and it sold for over $100. as I recall. I also once owned a Holleywood turret press that was quite massive and hugely expensive for its day. It was quite different from the currently made "Hollywood" turret shown in above post, which I do not recall seeing anything like back in the old Hollywood days.

That Hollywood turret press looks a lot like a Texan except for the color. Thanks for the link, my press is missing the 'handles' on the turret; was always curious as to what lived in those holes.

If I get a chance I'll dig the Texan out of the garage and post a pic.
