If it is on their website I have not found it. All I found was "email us"... why the secrecy?

There are third party sites that say it uses the Trijicon/RMR footprint but I'd like to verify that. If anyone would be so inclined. Thanks

The 507c uses the rmr footprint, I believe the 507k uses the delta point/sig pattern.

Yes, from everything I have seen (now) the "C" versions use the RMR pattern. The consensus I have found is the "K" versions use a proprietary modification of the Shield footprint. Below is the best website I have found for info, and a copy/paste that explains it.

I have a Beretta 92X RDO which I guess is still considered "new" to the market, the Holosun "K" series also "new", so I guess things are not caught up quite yet. That and of course everything is floating in the Pacific waiting to be unloaded. Contacted Holosun and Beretta last week about a plate, but have not heard from either.

Beretta gives you a choice of a "free" plate so I put in for a Docter/Noblex footprint which fits a bunch of sights including Vortex and Burris. Not entirely enthused about $50 for a plate from Holosun (if they have one).

All that said, at this point with my increasing frustration, I think I'm going to get a Burris FF3 as they are well proven, considerably less cost, fits the Docter plate I have coming. Maybe a Vortex Venom if I can find a good deal.

A modification of the Shield standard
Important Notes

Holosun 407K and Holosun 507K feature a modification of the Shield footprint. The differences are:
  • the two rear sockets are missing
  • the sockets in the front are shallower
For this reason, some pistols that are optic ready for Shield footprint need to be modified for the 407 and 507K. Namely, the two rear indexing lugs on the pistol have to be removed and the two front indexing lugs shortened in height. Hellcat and Walther PPS are examples of such pistols (some pistols, such as Sig Sauer P365XL, do not have to be modified)

Has there been any news on this ? I just sent a Holosun 407Kx2 to my son in NJ who bought a new Beretta 92x and I told him it should fit with a plate , the dealer does NOT know what foot print it comes with . Since I bought the 407K on Amazon return for another Holosun is an option.

You would need:
Beretta EUS03051 Kit RDO 92 Series - Leupold  Shield RMS  Shield RMSc  Shield RMSw  Shield SMS  Sig Sauer Romeo Zero  Leupold Delta Point Pro  Leupold DeltaPoint  HEX Wasp  J-Point  Redfield Accelerator  SIG Romeo Zero  Sig Sauer Romeo 1

You would have to modify the plate as described above, grind off the rear lugs and file down the front ones a bit shorter. The 92x is an interchangeable plate system no matter what optic you use.

407C/507C/508T

Honestly the plate modification took me less than 10 minutes with a mill file.

I swear, we need a single set of "footprints" as this business of having to guess which plate to fit (or mill) is nuts.

That sucks ! What Holosun is direct fit to a Beretta plate ? One with battery side trays PLEASE

The best place for info that I have found is Optics Trade website/blog. I agree it's all more confusing and difficult than it need be. Beretta customer service is laughable, and Holosun told me to get a custom plate made for $100. I quit and bought a Vortex Venom.

The 507 is on the Trijicon RMR footprint. I'm not sure why Beretta wouldn't have an option for that.
The 507C is an RMR footprint, The 507K (or 407 K) is a smaller lower sight nd has the weird sorta Shied foot print ! I have both a 507K and a 407K sight that are mounted in the slides of a Glock and a Walther PPS respectively . They were machined into the slide and just barely low enough to see the tops of the factory sights. I paid $25 extra on each to have a patented ZEV double post machined into the slide and sight base to give better recoil protection. . Filing down the puny Shield posts to fit the K series Holosun is a no starter for me! So for my son in New Jersey new Beretta 92x I switched the 507 K I bought for a 507 C which Does have the RMR foot print, but it sits higher than the K series. Dumb marketing IMHO.

Ah. I didn't realize the letter designated different footprints. How annoying. Luckily that is offset by the wonderful solar backup (for me it is anyway).

It uses the Shield RMS footprint. Pretty much the standard for smaller red dots to go on slim pistols like Hellcat, P365 etc.

There are plates for the RMR footprint. As well as the Docter footprint. Most of Beretta's optic ready guns are based off the 92 series, large. They make a Shield RMS footprint plate for their APX A1 Carry but I doubt they will have the same option for their larger handguns.

Is the 'Shield RMS' footprint the same as the "RMSc" footprint, Herr Walther? I feel like we're stuck in VHS vs Betamax times ten with these footprints...

Yes. "Mount: A wide range of mounts are available. Fits exsisting RMS/SMS mounts."

VHS vs Betamax was a battle over advertising, essentially. Betamax had better quality but poor market awareness. Red dot footprint is similar. The RMR footprint is by far the most popular. Holosun, Swampfox, and obviously Trijicon use it. Not everything can use the RMR design. So in order to have smaller red dots you have to go with RMS or Docter. But plates for those aren't nearly as available. Which is why I really like that optics-info blog. They do a lot of leg work comparing optics and their footprints. I have only put together two optic firearms together so far. And both times I have had them built in my head using their website before placing orders.

No, the Holosun "K" variants use a MODIFIED Shield footprint.
Minor changes. Namely around the recoil locking sockets at the back of the sight. In cases where a modification is necessary to use a particular optic like Holosun K, I recommend having a spare optic mount. That way you can modify how needed and keep a stock one if you wanted to change sights again down the road. Or mess up the modification. Either way a spare helps.

The differences are:

  • the two rear sockets are missing (see the photo below)
  • the sockets in the front are shallower (see the photo below)
For this reason, some pistols that are optic ready for the Shield mounting standard need to be modified for the 407 and 507K. Hellcat and Walther PPS are examples of such pistols (some pistols, such as Sig Sauer P365XL, do not have to be modified).

Modifying a plate for the Shield RMS isn't that hard. I did this to put a 407k on an XD-M. Be patient. The rear pins have to be ground or filed away completely. A lot has to be removed from the front pins. I did a little at a time until the optic fit flat on the plate. Don't forget to make sure your attaching screws aren't too long

Ruger did a nice job with the Max-9. It has the Shield RMS footprint, but the rear pins are removable so a Holosun k series drops right on.
