Can anyone recommend a good leather holster for a ruger blackhawk? I am looking for something that carrys well in the woods and could also double as a concelement rig as I will be using it as a CCW on ocassion when traveling to and from the woods.

I was thinking about Simply Rugged leather. Anyone have experience with this company?

BTW I have the holster that Ruger sells (a Triple K Carry Lite with a Ruger logo on it). It works great, even with my 10 1/2" Super Blackhawk, which I hadn't thought would belt-carry well at all.

It's not a CCW holster, but it's also not 100 bucks.

The Blackhawk is a pretty fat revolver to CCW, though certainly people do it.:)

Some .357 Magnum Blackhawk revolvers were made on that company's large .44 Magnum frame, while others were built on a smaller mid-sized frame. Be sure you know which you have before you buy or order a holster.

Number Eightyeight

For the money, the quality, and the practicality; CCW, go to the epsaddlery
site from that comprehensive list.

The "Tortilla" is what I use and like.
It "hugs" the body well and conceals well too. Has the thumb snap.
Correction: Number Seventyseven!

Thanks for the help. Just ordered a tortilla, the strap should hold my pistol in when I do something stupid scrabbling up rocks in the desert.

right on

"Peakb:"

The Tortilla may be "tight"; thumbstrap, when you receive it.
I became anxious and contacted El Paso, and they assured me they would remedy it, if it would not fit.
I kept it, and never needed the return.

Well, with a little stretching, it did fit; my mistake, and now it fits like a glove.
With no looseness.
