Hello,

I'm looking for suggestions for a good holster for a smith and wesson M&P in 9MM.

Its for my wife, and I'm not really sure what to get her.

She is at home most of the day, but I want something that will be comfortable for her to carry when out on short trips to the store and such.

We're both new to the whole carry thing, and I'm a complete newbie when it comes to holsters. I'm having a difficult time finding a good starting point from which to educate myself on this purchase.

So I guess, what are our options? How do they compare? Any good manufacturer's I should know about? Also, any good links you guys could post would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

There are a ton of options, it really depends on what mode you wish to carry in (IWB inside the waistband) or (OWB outside the waistband).

Decide what mode and how much concealment you need and go from there.

There are several good companies that tend to stock items such as www.usgalco.com for your casual gun carrier.

Then there are custom makers that can do almost anything under the sun.

Some great ones are:

www.hbeleatherworks.com
www.garritygunleather.com

there is a holster maker list over at combatcarry.com that has a pretty extensive list of makers.

Thanks for the replies. We're not really sure what we want, as this is our first time carrying anything. As a matter of fact, its our first time buying a holster. Looks like you guys gave me a couple of good starting points, and I appreciate it :)

Now to do some reading :)

Thanks again,

Chris

Also keep in a mind a women's holster will vary in design from a man's holster by virtue of their bodies being anatomically different. Different hip shape and height, also different place they wear their pants regarding their "waist" I know Eric at HBE has done plenty of holsters for women. Also check out http://www.womensholsters.com/ I've heard great things about them from men and women.
