For the past few months I have used a Galco Glove ankle holster for my S&W 642 and it has worked great. Comfortable and perfect retention with the thumb break - I think that is a requirement for an ankle holster even though I am perfectly comfortable with a belt holster without one. So I decided that I wanted to be able to shoot more than aout 25 - 50 rounds per range session with this gun as it is the one that I ALWAYS have with me (hence the ankle holster that works with any mode of dress). To that end, I purchased a Hogue Monogrip and it seems to be a great improvement over the stock grips - slightly longer so I can get my pinky on it and it covers the metal backstrap and fits my hand even better so it should be much more condusive to longer range (maybe even IDPA) sessions with it. The down side is that the rubber that covers the backstrap means that the thumb break strap cannot reach all the way around the back of the gun to secure it in the holster.

So here is the question - any ideas for a holster for a S&W 642 that can be carried in almost any mode of dress - with or without a cover garment? I would prefer to stick with the ankle holster but I will consider pocket holsters as well - but they must work when wearing jeans (front pocket carry would be tough based on the pocket design of the wranglers I wear and back pocket seems iffy because of the need for a cover garment usually). Help folks!

my kramer pocket holster works well for my 642 no matter what i'm wearing .
