Just picked up an M&P 9mm and am looking for a decent holster. I have never carried IWB but am considering it for this gun.

Brands, types to try out ....

For a full size or compact M&P pistol, you have a few brands or choices for a well made IWB holster.
I myself like the strong side OWB style with a regular straight drop. I used to carry guns with the FBI cant but now I just use the straight holster angle. On occasion I use cross draw carry but it depends on my activity or attire that day.

Brands I'd look at include; Galco, Safariland, Blackhawk, Alessi, Wright Leather Works, High Noon Holsters, Mitch Rosen, Mernickle, R Grizle, Don Hume, Milt Sparks, Kramer(Greg Kramer), Blade Tech, G Code, Kirkpatrick Leather, Ken Null, Redstone Concealment(AL).
For your information, www.highnoonholsters.com has a 10% off summer offer. It ends in 08/2015. ;)
I might buy a new Baseline Kydex holster for my Glock 21 gen 04 .45acp pistol.

Milt Sparks is widely known for the IWB Summer Special model. Some advise using holsters with Chicago screws like the Kramer styles for IWB. They say it lasts better and wears longer than snaps.
If you see a IWB holster you like, contact the shop first to be clear on prices, fit, delivery time, orders, etc. Some custom makers are slow or have back orders.
Many gunners like holsters made of horse, shark, rhino, gator, snake, etc. These exotic holsters are expensive but look sharp.

Cross Breed, or perhaps one of the knockoffs. Works great with my Shield. For IWB comfort is far more important than looks.

Thanks for the info. I did not know about Mitch Rosen. Looks like real quality holsters from him.

I don't have any first hand experience with Rosen's products, but my understanding is the Express Line performs just as well as the Full Detail line-up, they're just not as pretty, if you have cost concerns.

Received my 5JRExpress from Mitch Rosen. About 2 weeks for delivery which I felt was very good for a made to fit holster. Holster is well made and quite attractive for the money-about half the price of the "regular" 5JR. Used it for the first time yesterday. Very pleased with it. The "Leather Lightning" which I applied to the inside of the non-lined holster made the pistol much easier to draw while still providing excellent retention. I decided to stay with OWB for now. I will try IWB before next summer.

I had a Rosen 5JR from Rosen for a Glock 19. It was made in his shop and I waited 6 months for the holster, belt and mag pouch.

My brother now has the Glock and it's holster and has worn it for over 14 years now. It still looks great but the belt has "shrunk" on him. Funny how they do that.

I am now carrying a Smith M&P9 in a Kramer horsehide straight drop holster. Fantastic, and no 6 month wait.

Kydex is OK but I still like leather best.
