I am looking for a field or western style holster for my Blackhawk .44 5.5". Primary use is hunting, hiking, and woods bumming. Priorities are that it be durable and well made, yet affordable; a working man's holster. Cross draw, straight drop, canted, thong, thumb strap, I am open to suggestions, but it must be leather. I prefer to spend under $100.

If you have any suggestions I would appreciate them. If you have any pics of your rig, kindly post them.

Trailrider Products makes a dandy 'field' holster as well as glassic western looks.

Hunter's aren't as good as they used to be for the price. (Recently bought one)

Bianchi's western holsters are very solid, my brother uses one of those to tote his Blackhawk.

+1 on simplyrugged.com

i bought the sourdough pancake for my 4" .44 Redhawk. It's well-made, affordable and can be worn strong-side or cross-draw.

ElPaso Saddlery has some really nice stuff and quite a history of holstermaking and leather craft.
For your gun I would check the ThreePersons with a 3" cartridge bely or the River Belt.
This company has been making holsters for outlaws, and lawmen both for over 100yrs.
