Recently traded a Ruger MKII for a Kahr K-9 Elite 98. I am also applying for a CCW permit in Washington state. Mostly so I don't have to wait to pickup future purchases, but might actually carry at times. Also would be nice to have a gun in the car at times. I have shot IDPA and have a CZ-85 and holster for that, but it isn't at all concealable in the Safariland belt holster that I use for IDPA.

Suggestions for a concealable holster. Leaning toward IWB holster. Anyone have a favorite? Have checked out Holsters By Eric's website. Looks like good stuff. Lots of choices. Clips vs. Straps for belt. Some have a large pancake shape, others are smaller. Can't really choose. Any other good websites that people can point me towards. If you carry a Kahr or other similar compact, relatively heavy gun what do you use?

BTW I really liked the way the Kahr felt in my hand. The only other gun that felt that good the minute I picked it up was the CZ-75. The idea of a single stack 9mm that points that naturally sold me instantly.

Thanks,

Makarov

Milt Sparks makes some solid IWB holsters, so you might check him out here.

I've also found that my DeSantis IWB holsters offer good performance, and they're less of a diet for your wallet. I've used one for my 1911 for a long time.

Have had a K-9 for years. Had $700 gift cert. last year and used it on PM9 and Bianchi Pro 100 (clip on leather IWB), which fits either gun. For me anyway (but I'm ultra-picky comfortwise), the holster required two trips to a local leather shop to get clip repositioned for desired depth/cant. It is now acceptable in jeans or draw string shorts.

I suspect Eric can fix ya up with something quite similar - maybe even get it "right for you" ;) the first time.

Hubby, son and I all carry our Kahrs in a Don Hume IWB. They are made especially to fit the gun, are minimal and made of the finest leather. These holsters make it comfortable to carry all day whether riding in a car or walking, no matter what your body shape is. To copy a funny beer comercial: "I can't feel my gun!!!" The best thing is the price, $24.99.

I have a new K9 on order...can't wait for it to show.

I have been looking for an IWB holster as well.

Does anyone have any experiance with either the Milt Sparks Watch Six or the Threat Solutions UCR?

They are both within a couple of dollars of each other.

Thanks, and I'll be watching this thread.

Thanks for all the responses. The ability to tuck in a shirt *over* the gun might be really nice. There were several holsters that had that feature. The High Noon Hidden Ally was one. Where I live you go from very cold winters to summer temps above 100. Would be nice to be as flexible as possible. Being able to tuck in a light shirt over the top would be nice, but it seems like people would be able to tell you had something in your pants. Anyone comment on the concealability factor of IWB carry? Suppose it depends on how tight your pants are and general build.

They're not glamorous and not especially flashy, but I find myself continually coming back to the Don Hume H715M clip on IWB. They're very well made and an exceptional value. You can get the best price on them from www.gunnersalley.com (best service also). I have an H715M for my Kahr K9 and I love it.

IWB for Kahr

I have a watch Six for my Kahr Mk9 and I love it. Very comfortable and ultra-concealable.

makarov, I carry a Kahr K40 on a regular basis using a Milt Sparks Mirage belt slide. I also recommend a Milt Sparks Summer Special. I have used a Rosen Workman holster but I don't care for tuckable holsters, that may be due to my body shape. Regards, Richard :D

PS the neat thing about holsters for Kahrs is they will work with your Maks.

I carry my K-40 Elite 98 in a Milt Sparks VM-II holster. It's my favorite carry combination.

One nice thing about IWB holsters is that when you're carrying a brick like a steel Kahr (I love 'em but I never claimed they're light) your belt, passing over the outside of the holster, eliminates any flopping around. It's easy to forget you've got it on.

I have an Alessi WSDT for my K9 and I think it's great. Comfortable, stable, concealable, very well made...what more could you ask for? The only problem is, it will probably take a couple months to get one since Lou's products are in such demand.

Well, it's not IWB...

However, I purchased a Galco hip holster while I'm trying to decide which custom holster I want for my Kahrs. I asked the shop and incredibly, they handed me a small holster for a 1911. I thought it was a mistake, but the guy said "Try it". I did and the MK9 & PM9 fit PERFECTLY. Maybe a K-9 will work in a 1911 holster too.<shrug>

I am a big fan of Milt Sparks, but in the last 3 years I have become a fan of Kydex. I started out with a Blade Tech IWB that I really like. I decided to try a tuckable and bought Comp Tac's tuckable holster that is very comfortable and tucks very well.

Just some other options

Like harrydog, I've got a Milt Sparks Watch Six Dual Talon for my K9. I believe the WSDT is a joint venture between Alessi and Sparks. It's probably the most comfortable IWB holster I've ever owned. Got mine for about $90 shipped from Lightning Arms. Sounds expensive, but it is well worth it!
I also have an inexpensive "Mr. Softy" IWB holster from High Noon. Very nice holster for the price (about $25). It's comfortable, and works well. It's got a strong metal clip on it, so it stays put.

Thanks again for all the great suggestions. I have been in contact with Eric from HBE. His prices are fair and he answered my e-mail really quickly (even on Sunday) - try that with a big outfit.

I think I decided on the Pro Tuckable with the snap belt loop. Anyone comment on loops vs. clips? I though the clips might scratch upholstery or furniture when sitting. Is that the case in real usage for anyone? Also debating cant angle. It might be nice to be able to wear it in front - appendix carry - and also behind the hip, which would make a more vertical position easier. What do most of you prefer for cant angle and why?

Thanks again.

I really liked - - -

- - The Milt Sparks Summer Special in the Commander size, when I was carrying a P9 Kahr for a time. Convenient, up high, out of the way - - You can forget it's there.

Best,
Johnny
